Configuring MS Outlook Express (or MS Outlook)

• Follow the directions on your e-mail software, this should be the only information you need:
POP Server (incoming): mail.yourdomain.com (eg. mail.joeswidgets.com)
SMTP Server (ougoing): < your ISP should provide this > (eg. mail.bigpond.com)
User Name: user@yourdomain.com (eg. joe@joeswidgets.com)
Password: < The password of the mailbox >


EXAMPLE:
The following series of screen shots show you how to setup an email account in Outlook Express. This account is for james@example.com.

Step 1) Choose ' Tools ' and ' Accounts ...'




Step 2) Choose ' Add ' and ' Mail ...'




Step 3) Type in your name (e.g. Jack Jones)




Step 4) Type in the email address you're setting up.




Step 5) Type in the email server (mail.yourdomain.com) and your SMTP (outgoing) mail server (from your ISP).




Step 6) Type in the account name. The password is just the password. Hit 'Next'.




Step 7) Click on Finish. Your account is almost set up.




OPTIONAL STEP (CHECK WITH YOUR ISP FIRST):
Step 8) If your ISP's outgoing mail server requires "authentication", go to menu: 'Tools' > 'Accounts' (see Step 1), select your newly created account then click "Properties" button. From there, check the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" box, and click "OK".


You're done!
